Rosamond Special School

Healthy Habits

On the advice of the Victorian Chief Health Officer, the Minister for Education has announced that all Victorian government schools will transition to remote and flexible learning arrangements for Term 2: “As we act to slow the spread of coronavirus, the message to students and parents of government schools is clear: all children who can learn at home must learn from home – with exceptions only in extremely limited circumstances.”  As a result, we are preparing for both – remote and onsite learning, as we acknowledge some families are not able to work from home and must continue to send their child/children to school.  This includes some of our staff, therefore, families need to consider available options carefully to support both their child/children and the school.

A reminder that, even when in the comfort of your own homes, good hygiene practices are the most effective means of minimising the spread of COVID-19.  The top 8 hints remain as the following:

  • Wash hands often with soap and running water, for at least 20 seconds.
  • Try not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. If you don’t have a tissue cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or elbow.
  • Isolate yourself at home if you feel sick. If you take medication ensure you have adequate supplies.
  • Phone your GP first if you need medical attention. They will tell you what to do.
  • Continue healthy habits: exercise, drink water, get plenty of sleep.
  • Don't wear a face mask if you are well.
  • Buy an alcohol-based hand sanitiser with over 60 per cent alcohol.
