Rosamond Special School

School parking and safety

Over recent years, we have carefully developed the parking and drive-through arrangements for parents who transport their students to school by car, so that all students, parents and staff are safe at all times.

Please note that vehicles should not travel at greater than 5 kmh in the car park, as there are many staff, students and other vehicles moving around the carpark. Errol St, the road outside the school, can also be very busy at school times, and there are frequently vehicles parked outside the factories across the road, making traffic visibility quite restricted.

In the morning, there are a small number of parking spaces kept vacant for parents to park when bringing students into the Office. These are on the right as you enter the smaller Entry gate. (The northern parking area to the left is for staff, and is usually full.) As you turn to the right, there are up to 7 spaces available on the West side. On the East side, there are also 2 more spaces on the left which may be available, and 2 Disabled parking spaces which can be used if they are available and the required permits are on display. Parents parking on either side of the carpark should use the adjacent footpath and pedestrian crossing rather than walking through the parking area. If there are no parking spaces available in the car park, parents are asked to drive carefully through and park in Errol St to escort their student into the school. It is recommended that parents park on the East side of Errol St, so that the road does not have to be crossed.

Parents of older students who are dropped off to walk inside unsupervised, may drive through to the two drop off spaces outside the Exit gates. These are “No Parking” spaces. Parents using these two spaces should be aware of other vehicles moving through the Exit gates. Students should exit the vehicle on the passengers’ side.

In the afternoon, there are again a small number of parking spaces kept vacant for parents to park when collecting students from the Office. Parents parkingon either side of the carpark should use the adjacent footpath and pedestrian crossing rather than walking through the parking area. If there are no parking spaces available in the car park, parents are asked to drive carefully through and park in Errol St to collect their student from the Office. It is recommended that parents park on the East side of Errol St, so that the road does not have to be crossed. Please note that there is no drive-through option in the afternoon, and all students must be signed out through the Office. Cars moving through the carpark are required to give way to buses as they depart. Parents are requested to follow the directions of Rosamond staff, positioned to provide maximum supervision and safety. Please do not drive through the Eastern section of the carpark, which is reserved for buses. Please do not use the Exit driveway to make three-point turns.

Our objective is to make every morning drop off and afternoon collection safe and stress-free for everyone.

Please contact me if you have any concerns.
