Rosamond School is a Victorian Government school for young people aged between 5 and 18 years with intellectual disabilities.
To be eligible to attend Rosamond, a student must have a formal diagnosis of Intellectual Disability. This does not preclude other disabilities and/or disorders such as Autism or physical disabilities. However, to attend Rosamond, a student must be assessed as having a Full Scale Intelligence Quotient (FSIQ -Cognitive assessment) between 50 and 70 (Inclusive). Without an FSIQ, an Adaptive Behaviour Composite (Vineland) of between 50 and 70 (Inclusive) can be considered.
Assessments
The evidence required for enrolment at Rosamond School must include a cognitive assessment and the approved Vineland documentation. Assessments must indicate that the student meets the Department of Education (DE) criteria for special school enrolment. Then, a Disabilities Inclusion Profile (DIP) is developed as part of the Disability Inclusion reform. For students wishing to enter from a mainstream school, the referring school is responsible for having assessments completed and/or current.
Students new to the system, such as Foundation or students from interstate, Catholic, or Independent School systems, will also require a current cognitive assessment. Please get in touch with our enrolments team to discuss these requirements further.
Copies of reports from specialist practitioners relating to the student’s disability or medical condition are also helpful when considering enrolment and/or completing Department funding applications.

The enrolment (or referral) process will be explained and further information provided after the tour.
|
Requirement:
The transferring school must contact Rosamond School first. Tours of Rosamond School shall not be booked prior to this initial discussion.
|
Requirement: Your child’s current school is responsible for preparing and submitting a disability category verification request to determine eligibility to enrol in a Special school. Tours of the school shall not be booked unless evidence is provided that the child qualifies to attend a Special school.
The submitting school is responsible for consulting with relevant schools, collating supporting evidence, seeking required signatures, and submitting the DOE form for verification. |
Rosamond School will consider enrolment applications from eligible students; however, if the school has insufficient accommodation to accept all eligible applicants, your name may be placed on a waiting list.
Students who live within the school’s Designated Transport Area are a priority and may gain access to the school bus service if they live more than 4.8km from the school > Rosamond Transport Area – Google My Maps
Bus seats are prioritised for those who live more than 4.8 km from the school. If a seat is available for those living less than 4.8km, a conditional seat will be allocated. This seat must be relinquished if a higher priority student requires it.
A Student must be enrolled for at least three days to be eligible for the Bus service.
Students will be provided with a designated pick-up point. These will usually be on main roads and PTV bus stops rather than parking being located in front of specific houses.
Once we are provided with verified documentation and eligibility, we will contact you to discuss the next steps.
Under the Department of Education Parent Payments Policy, Victorian government schools must provide transparent information to their school community on voluntary parent/carer contributions.
The following link contains the documents outlining the voluntary parent/carer contributions at our school:
Student safety at Rosamond School is our highest priority, and the safe and appropriate supervision of students is an essential element of our duty of care to students. Part of this duty is ensuring parents and students know our student supervision arrangements before and after school.
Before school: School grounds are supervised from 8:45 am to assist with student drop-off via a private vehicle or bus. Parents are to supervise their child/ren in their cars if they arrive on site before supervision commences.
After school: The school grounds are supervised from 2:30 p.m. until 3:15 p.m. to enable students to transition smoothly to the appropriate buses or parent cars.
Students should not be on school grounds outside these times and can not be supervised (unless they are attending a before- or after-school supervised extracurricular activity).
Parents/carers are requested to ensure that students do not attend school outside of these supervised times unless they are attending a pre-arranged supervised activity (i.e. sports practise).
For a copy of our school’s Yard Duty and Supervision Policy, contact the school office or refer to our website policy page. This policy includes Rosamond School’s student supervision arrangements across the school day, including before and after school.
