Mental Health
The role of Mental Health Practitioner (MHP), at Rosamond, is one considered to be part of the Allied Health and Wellbeing teams within the school. Our MHP provides direct counselling support and other early intervention and health promotion services to our students, including coordinating support for students with complex needs. In counselling sessions, the MHP, with parental/carer consent, is able to provide direct support, offering feedback, strategies and tools to help individual students manage their specific concerns. The MHP role is funded by the Department of Education, Victoria, and is targeted at students who are of Secondary school age (12-18 years). The feedback/strategies available, as a result of this service, are also beneficial to assist in informing school staff, which then further promotes enhanced learning and development. The MHP may also invite students to participate in small group activities, rather than 1:1 intervention. In doing so, a small number of students, who may be experiencing similar or the same concerns, are supported in a collaborative manner. All MHP services are offered with relevant family/parental permissions.
