Student Support
Student Support
Rosamond School has a Student Wellbeing, Inclusion and Engagement Learning Specialist for the Primary and Secondary sections. Their role is to promote students’ feeling safe, happy, and supported emotionally and academically, allowing them to reach their full potential at Rosamond. They proactively identify students and support their needs through evidence-based strategies and manage the school’s Internal Wellbeing Referral process. A variety of supports are offered at Rosamond, including Literacy interventions, Youth Worker groups, mental health advocacy, Music program, DIR Floortime, and Allied Health liaison and interventions. They work closely with families, teachers, Care Teams, internal and external Allied Health and other professionals to advocate for our students to help to achieve the best outcomes for them.
Youth Workers
In 2024, we introduced a Youth Worker Program to Rosamond. The recruitment of two individuals, Sheldon Thompson and Cara Cadman, enabled us to enhance our existing wellbeing initiatives, offering more Primary Prevention options to our student cohort. Sheldon and Cara work across the school, from Foundation to Year 12, promoting self-esteem and self-awareness foci, to build student confidence, competence and collegiality. Many of the activities that our Youth Workers utilise incorporate mindfulness techniques and/or physical activity, hence supporting our students to be healthy in both mind and body.
Our Youth Workers can work with our students in 1:1 and/or small group settings. Their qualifications enable them to work both on the school premises and off-site to access local community areas. Their expertise and devotion to caring for our students add another layer of support for the welfare of our Rosamond students, regardless of their age. In addition to offering mental and physical health initiatives, our Youth Workers also coordinate our Lunch Program, providing a more holistic approach to our school’s wellbeing program.
